21-year-old James Valentine is one very lucky man. The Pennsylvania tree trimmer nearly died yesterday afternoon after he was struck in the neck with a chainsaw.
Apparently, Valentine was in a harness when the chainsaw slipped and became embedded in his neck. A co-worker rushed up to get Valentine and lower him down to the ground.
The saw was actually left inside his neck to limit bleeding until he made it to the hospital. Paramedics did remove the motor before transporting him.
Doctors say the only reason he survived was because the chainsaw missed his major arteries. The chainsaw cut into mostly muscle, which likely saved his life. Once he arrived at the hospital, surgeons successfully removed the blade.
And by the way, Valentine does plan on getting back to work very soon. “I am a tree climber; that’s what I do.” He told reporters.
More power to you, man. I am glad my passion has nothing to do with chainsaws or trees. My job is probably the least dangerous job in the world. What is going to happen to me?
The computer could damage my eyes eventually. I suppose I could accidentally slam the laptop down on my fingers. If I am lucky, I might have to deal with one of those awesome home invasions.
But that’s about it. Stay-at-home moms have it harder than I do.
