Thaddeus Kalinoski is living the life that people dream about. He basically gets paid to party. For the last four years Thaddeus has been making a living simply by being a dead ringer for the Zach Galiafinakis aka the bearded guy in the movie “The Hangover”.
Once the manager of a restaurant, the 38 year old basically now hangs out at the hottest nite clubs and strip clubs in Vegas, take photos with tourists and earns approximately $250,000 per year. He admits all he does is basically party,
‘Becoming Alan has changed my life forever, I now live the life in Las Vegas partying round the clock and all because I look like a guy from a film.
‘I still have to pinch myself that I actually make a living doing this.
‘Every day I live out my life like I am in The Hangover with some of the adventures being as crazy as what people saw in the film.
‘At first, when I started this, it was a way of getting my head clear, and I thought it would be a short term thing. I never imagined it would become a kind of second career.
‘However, now it is my life and no two days are the same.
‘I have had some of the craziest nights out partying with people, and have laughed non-stop about the whole process – it’s the best thing that ever happened to me.’
HOW IT ALL STARTED
If it all sounds like fun, that’s because it is. However this new life was born from a place of heart ache and sorrow. Thaddeus had built a career in the hospitality industry but the long hours were ruining his marriage. After sacrificing his career in attempts to patch things up with his wife, it proved too little too late and she still left him.
Falling into depression, gaining weight and not shaving, Thaddeus’ friends joked with him and said that he looked like “the guy from the Hangover”. After enough people tell him the same thing he decides to see if he can actually get a job as a professional look alike. Living in New Jersey at the time, this led him to Atlantic City were he was actually able to earn some money. After working AC he and a buddy took a quick trip to Vegas, the money, women and partying were all ten fold and he has never looked back.
Thaddeus says he began to take his craft to the next level,
‘I wasn’t just like another lookalike on the street, but pretty much the Hangover character out and about having fun.’
He also says that he never asks people for money only businesses for professional appearances.
‘I have had guys just hand me wads of notes and some people just say thanks and that is enough too. I get great reactions from tourists from Dubai and the Middle East – they are very generous with their money.’
Thadeus was so convincing that the producers of the Hangover contacted him to work as a double on one of the sequels. He was a stand in for aerial scenes filmed in the desert and at the gas station. The real Zack was just impressed as everyone else.
The reaction from Zach couldn’t have been better. He smiled at me when I came on set and just said “Man that is amazing. It is like looking in the mirror.”
ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END?
With no scheduled Hangover sequels and a real Zach Galifianakis going through an extreme weight loss, it might be time for Zack to look at getting back into hospitality…quick. But until then if you if you see him in Vegas say hi and make sure to get a selfie.
The only downside to his new life is that there are no scheduled Hangover sequels – and perhaps even worse, that Galifianakis has lost weight in real life by quitting alcohol. Here is a clip of Thaddeuus hard at work. Its a tough job but someones got to do it.
