I know it’s barely Mother’s Day but I’m giving Peter McGowan the Father of the Year award. In honor of May 4th (May the 4th be with you) and as an avid Star Wars fan, McGowan built his son a bed modeled after the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.
The pic was first discovered on Imgur where McGowan reveals that it took him 12 month to finish the project and on geek.com we learned that it cost him only $250. On the Imgur post McGowan wrote,
Over a year ago I posted a photo of my nephews Star Wars room while it was in the process of being built. Here is the final product. #plainjoe #plainjoestudios
This is what you get when your dad is an architect and your uncle works at a design studio. In contrast, my Dad was unemployed and my uncle was/is an elementary school janitor. I slept on a cot they were throwing away from the kindergarten classes at the school my uncle clean. My dad tossed me a Frisbee and said pretend that’s a steering wheel…you now have a race car bed. #truestory
For those non Star Wars fans, here is a scale model of the actual Millennium Falcon. This allows you to really appreciate McGowan’s work.

Kudos to Peter and his brother for such a great job, that is pretty damn close. Sleepovers at the McGowan’s will never be the same. Excuse me while I go ask my mom for permission!
