Understandably, the people of the internet lost their minds. Who eats a watermelon like this? The answer is no one. Not even the boy you see in the video.
The truth is, 10-year-old Mitchell Schibeci wanted the cameras to notice him. He’s the son of Australian sports reporter Tony Schbeci. He told Channel Seven News that he was inspired by the other wacky viral hits before him.
“I saw people do crazy things, like that mullet boy who got on television, so I thought I might try it too. I’m not really a hero, I’m just a normal average kid.”
You have to respect his game. His father certainly does.
The only downside? Mitchell spent most of the night in the restroom. He had to use the restroom “like seven times” according to Sporting News Australia.
Still worth it.
