‘Lemonade’ has been trending on Twitter for a few days now, but that’s mostly because Beyonce took over the world on Saturday night.
There are probably only a few tweets talking about 9-year-old Tristin Jacobson. His biological mother left him on the doorstep of a Missouri shelter on a frigid January day four years ago.
The shelter called Donnie Davis and she has been taking care of Tristin ever since. Davis is basically the only mother Tristin knows, and he has always wanted her to adopt him. Unfortunately, she hasn’t been able to afford the legal fees.
Tristin decided to solve this problem by opening up a lemonade stand to raise money. His story quickly went viral online and people from all over joined the cause.
They had a modest goal of $5,000, and they went flying by that number. In total they raised over $14,000. The actual lemonade stand/yard sale raised just over $7,000, and a fundraiser they started on YouCaring.com raised the rest.
The extra money will go toward Tristin’s college education.
