This isn’t your average shark attack. When you read that someone was bitten by a shark, you immediately think the worst. But this situation was a little different.
A woman was chilling at a beach in Boca Raton when a nurse shark latched onto her arm and refused to let go. The strange incident happened Sunday afternoon, and according to people at the beach, the woman remained calm throughout the event.
Boca Raton Fire Rescue tried to get the shark off her arm at the beach, but they were not successful. The little shark died before the emergency crew arrived; however, its jaws were still latched on.
Ocean Rescue’s Capt. Clint Tracy told reporters the following…
“There was very little blood. She was calm. Good vitals. And they secured her to a splint, onto the stretcher, with the shark. And she went to Boca Raton Regional with the shark attached to her arm.”
The attack was extremely unusual because nurse sharks are known for being submissive and stationary. The woman is making a full recovery at the hospital.
Tracy says he obviously has compassion for the lady, but he’s also sad about losing a shark…
“It’s a shark that’s been in our park for some time. And although we have compassion for the victim, we’re also sad that this shark is not gonna be there anymore.”
