This might be the saddest video of 2016. The woman you see in the video above will be facing child endangerment charges after she overdosed inside a Family Dollar store with her 2-year-old daughter by her side.
As you can see in the disturbing video, the poor kid is just crying and screaming, trying to wake her mother up. The people filming just stand there and watch in shock. It’s important to note they had already called the ambulance. It’s not clear why they didn’t offer more support for the kid, though.
Police believe the mother overdosed on an oral version of heroin or an “opiate-based narcotic like fentanyl.” She regained consciousness after two doses of Narcan.
The video will be used against her. It’s now evidence in the case and it’ll make it extremely easy to slap her with several charges. In addition to the clear overdose, officers also found drug paraphernalia inside her bag.
Chief James Fitzpatrick was sickened by the video…
“It’s very, very disturbing to see someone obviously in the matter of addiction, where it overtakes someone to the point where they’re not able to take care of their child, leaves their child vulnerable.”
It really is sad. For not only the child, but also the mother. Hopefully she’s able to get the help she needs now.
