Losing your luggage? Yeah, it’s annoying and an inconvenience, but it’s something you prepare for.
One thing you never prepare for is losing your 5-year-old child. Maribel Martinez is still trying to recover after JetBlue staff made one of the biggest goofs of the year. Martinez was waiting at John F Kennedy international airport in New York to pick up her son.
But he never showed up. Instead, staff tried to give her a boy she had never seen before. Her son, Andy, had landed at Logan airport in Boston, which is a good 200 miles away.
The boy she was given was scheduled to land in Boston, so during the flight there was obviously a huge misunderstanding. The staff working at the time had even given the boy Andy’s passport to travel with. Meanwhile, Andy was in Boston being introduced to a woman (presumably the other boy’s mom) he had never seen before.
It took three hours for JetBlue to figure it all out. But for those three hours, Martinez didn’t know where her son was. She thought he might have been kidnapped, which is why she’s suing JetBlue.
In the lawsuit, she claims she suffered, “great emotional distress, extreme fear, horror, mental shock, mental anguish and psychological trauma.”
A spokesman for JetBlue airways refused to comment. The lawyer working for Martinez is really digging in. He told the New York Daily News, “This never should have happened and the JetBlue employees should be ashamed of themselves.”
Hell yeah! GET THAT MONEY!
