A 27-year-old father named Zack Davis decided to take his three children on a hunting trip in Oregon. His children, all under the age of 7, were probably really excited to see their father shoot and kill an innocent animal.
But instead of impressing his kids by murdering some poor deer, he ended up almost murdering his children. At around eight in the morning, Davis got out of his vehicle because he thought he saw a deer.
While walking back to his truck, he accidentally fired his rifle. The bullet went through the driver’s side door of the truck and into the back seat, which is where his three children were sitting.
The 2-year-old and the 4-year-old were hit by the bullet. The youngest one suffered a broken leg and was flown to Legacy Emanuel Hospital. The 4-year-old was shot in the shin. She had surgery to remove a metal fragment from her leg.
Both kids are expected to make a full recovery, but it could have been a lot worse. Deputies are still investigating the incident. In the past two years, seven minors in Oregon have been injured and one has been killed in accidental shootings.
