When 17-year-old Nick Denbow tried to walk inside his family’s living room, he was shocked to find it was blocked off with a note from his mother.
The note explained that the living room was closed until Thanksgiving. She announced that she cleaned the entire room and didn’t want anyone to get it dirty again before the big day, which is obviously a problem she has been struggling with for years now.
Nick tweeted out the note to his followers on Twitter, “okay how my mom just gonna close down the living room for a month?” he asked. The tweet went viral. Over 30,000 users liked it and it received nearly 15,000 retweets.

The high school student was interviewed by Buzzfeed. He explained that his mother was tired of cleaning up after his mess and his brother’s mess.
“Mom and I find it really funny, but I think my brother’s a little irritated that he can’t watch TV.”
But his brother shouldn’t be too upset. You can enter the living room if you pass all the requirements: “1) you have showered and are dirt and odor free from top to toe, 2) you are wearing freshly laundered clothing. *If permission is granted — NO food or drinks are permitted at this time!”
Basically, it’s a no fun zone at the moment. But really, who hangs out in the living room anymore? Your bedroom has everything you could possibly want in life. Your mom is giving you permission to be a recluse. Embrace it.
