37-year-old Erik Shepler is clearly not ready to be a husband. His wife started to worry about him when he didn’t return to their house one night. He was “missing” for over 12 hours.
And when he finally showed up, he told her he was robbed. He claimed he was hit on the head while leaving a bar. He woke up in an alley with his credit card missing. Oh, and he also told her he couldn’t remember anything that had happened in the past 12 hours.
He then dropped to the floor and requested medical attention. His wife called the police and she repeated his story to the cops that arrived on the scene.
They knew something wasn’t right, so they opened an investigation, and it didn’t take them long to destroy the man’s story. They found surveillance video of Shepler with another woman buying hot dogs at a gas station.
The investigators tracked down this other woman and she told them that Shepler picked her up at the bar, took her home and spent the night with her after enjoying a few more drinks.
He has been charged with one count of false reports to law enforcement officers. And we have to imagine a divorce is coming soon.
