We would call this a rookie mistake, but 39-year-old Dwayne Hebert is no rookie. He’s been in the drug business for a while, and last November, he was arrested for operating a meth lab out of his boat.
He has been out of jail on a $90,000 bond for a couple months now, and during this time, he has still been dealing drugs.
We know this because on Friday evening, Hebert sent a “misdirected” text message to a sheriff’s deputy arranging a large delivery of drugs. The officer went along with it and agreed to meet Hebert at the location discussed in the text message conversation.
The officer then got the narcotics division involved, and when Hebert showed up at the location, he was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, two counts of resisting an officer, and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled, dangerous substance.
Last we heard, no bond had been set for the man, but we’re willing to bet it’ll be a little harder to get out this time. When he does get out, he might want to consider hiring an assistant. A college student who knows how to work with technology. It’ll save him money in the future.
