20-year-old Devin Stokes thought he had pulled off the perfect crime. He stole a $300 purse from a Dillard’s department store and was able to drive away in his black sedan.
After grabbing some information at the scene, officers spotted his vehicle driving 55 mph in a 25 mph zone. They attempted to pull him over, but he refused to go down without a fight. Stokes sped off and managed to get away.
But in the process, he hit several mailboxes. The impact ripped off his bumper — with his license plate still attached…
Officers were able to track him down a short time later. He was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude an officer and larceny over $100. They found the stolen purse inside his home, which is where he was found thanks to the license plate.
According to the report, Stokes apologized to police and said he didn’t mean to hurt anyone. Notice how he didn’t say any thing, because he was clearly determined to destroy some mailboxes.
