16-year-old Thomas Townsend wasn’t a fan of taking showers, but he was still a fan of smelling fresh, so he would use cans of deodorant to hide his lack of hygiene.
But unfortunately, Thomas learned the hard way that too much of anything really can kill you. The boy’s mother, Sally, told reporters that her son would spray half a can of deodorant on himself some days. “He would go through a can a week.” She admitted.
Police found 42 cans of deodorant inside the boy’s room after his death. According to the report, he was found collapsed on his knees against his bed. Paramedics tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The investigation revealed that the cause of death was circulation collapse caused by butane gas inhalation. There were no signs of drugs or alcohol in his system, “He sprayed [deodorant] all over himself and succumbed to the effects of the gas.” Coroner Rachel Redman said. His death was officially ruled an accident.
It looks like this story was first posted to The Sun, which makes you wonder if its 100% accurate. However, it does look like this has happened before.
