When I was a kid, there was one place I would never hide during a game of hide-and-go-seek, and that place was the oven. For one, I was a chubby kid and probably couldn’t get my fat a** inside the damn thing.
But most important, I was too afraid of someone accidentally turning it on. I didn’t want to die in the oven.
25-year-old Gabrielle Looper didn’t want to die in an oven either, which is why she constructed a modified oven inside her home. The oven, which was not connected to a power source, had its bottom cut out to make it a more spacious hiding spot.
Looper needed this hiding spot because she was wanted for a probation violation. Deputies executed a search warrant at her home, and Looper’s hiding spot was proving to be effective.
Investigators were about to leave because they believed she wasn’t home; however, they got a little suspicious when they discovered there were two ovens inside the home. One of those ovens being the non-functioning oven Looper was hiding inside.
Deputy Kent Gries was pretty shocked…
“I’ve never seen anything like it. Yes, she fit all the way in the oven. Its sole purpose was to hide people when law enforcement came.”
So close, Looper! Next time remember to take the actual oven out.
