Well, we have finally figured out what it takes to get an officer fired. Shooting and killing unarmed people? No big deal. But feeding a homeless man a sh*t sandwich? You’ve gone too far.
An officer in San Antonio named Matthew Luckhurst was on bike patrol in the city when he allegedly put a sandwich filled with feces next to a sleeping homeless man. The sandwich was packed neatly inside a styrofoam container.
Luckhurst bragged about the incident to his co-workers, and they were so shocked and disgusted they reported him. After an investigation, the police department decided to fire Luckhurst.
The mayor of San Antonio released the following statement:
“Firing this officer was the right thing to do. His actions were a betrayal of every value we have in our community, and he is not representative of our great police force.”
The officer’s lawyer claims his client never gave the sandwich to the homeless man. It was a joke that went too far. Even if that is the case, would you really want someone like him serving the community? Why would you joke about something like that?
It proves he doesn’t think much of the homeless community, so you can’t trust him to actually protect them when it matters.
