The only thing more dangerous than borrowing money from a friend is borrowing a vehicle from a friend. It’s a lot of pressure, especially if your friend’s car is expensive.
Back in June, a man borrowed his friend’s BMW in Scotland and drove it to Manchester to watch a Stone Roses concert at Etihad Stadium. When he arrived at the stadium, he parked the vehicle in one of the area’s parking garages.
During the concert, thanks to the alcohol and loud music, the man forgot which parking garage he parked in. When he left, he spent hours trying to find the right one. He didn’t find it that night, and he didn’t find it the next five days he spent searching either.
In August, the owner of the vehicle reported it lost or stolen after emailing local companies in the area to see if anyone had seen it.
Fast forward several months later and officers “happened upon” the abandoned car in one of the area lots just before midnight on Friday.
According to the report, that ticket could be north of $6,000. We have to imagine that friend feels horrible right now. Next time he should take a photo or something. Leave a trail of chips if you have to.
